The Toybag Guide to Canes and Caning, by Janet Hardy

Description from Amazon:

A primer on the history, glamor, technique and art of erotic caning, including sections on cane styles and materials, pacing, warmup, aftercare, positions, first aid and safety issues. Includes a special section (on) making and maintaining your own canes from inexpensive natural materials!

Amazon carries this title in paperback and Kindle format.  I read it on my Kindle.

 - How kinky?
Caning has become one of the more popular, and possibly well-known, of all the kinky activities.  I wouldn't say it has become mainstream, but it is certainly not as far-out as some other kinds of play. It might be ... medium kinky.

- How accessible?
Very.  This little guide answers all your basic questions in a very relatable, informative manner.  From why people like it, through to how to choose the perfect first cane for your needs, it really does have everything a novice might need to know before they get up and go to try and buy their first cane/s.

- How informative?
Quite! Hardy gives a quick history of caning, and goes on to give a wonderful overview of all the most basic topics concerned with the practice. There are photographs of the various kinds of implements, and even photos of positions for the caner and canee to assume. Perfect for the budding cane aficionado.

- How well executed?
Very.  The author is clearly an enthusiastic caner and canee, and writes with love and devotion on the topic, in very non-threatening, matter-of-fact language.  Lovely.

- Overall reaction
This, unlike the roleplay-based Guides, is perfect for throwing into your toybag.  There is information about the different types of implements and materials, so you can take it with you when shopping for canes.  There are photographs of caner and canee positions, so you can refer to it when trying out canes for the first time.  It has information on the various sensations to be felt from the different types of implements, ideas for warming up and cooling down during a scene, as well as the best ways to provoke the desired responses in a bottom. There's basic pain processing, beginner's safety and first-aid, and even a section on making your own canes, and ongoing cane maintenance.  Fantastic, and the perfect size to chuck into your bag for quick and frequent reference.

A note:  Do try your best to buy this in hard copy.  The formatting in the Kindle version presents (relatively minor, but annoying) issues with the photos and their captions.

Carrie's Story, and Safe Word, by Molly Weatherfield

Descriptions from Amazon.com:

Carrie's Story:
"I had been Jonathan’s slave for about a year when he told me he wanted to sell me at an auction. I wasn’t in any condition to respond when he told me this…" So begins Carrie’s tale of uncompromising sexual adventure. Imagine the Story of O starring a Berkeley PhD in comparative lit (who moonlights as a bike messenger) with a penchant for irony, self-analysis, and anal sex. Set in San Francisco and the Napa valley, Carrie’s Story takes the reader on a journey into a netherworld of slave auctions, training regimes, and human "ponies" preening for dressage competitions.

Carrie’s Story is S/M smut for people who know how to read. The author is herself obviously well-read. Because the story is told from the POV of a smart, hip, curious, awake young woman, Carrie’s Story stimulates the intellect far more than you’d expect from porn.

Safe Word:
From the author of Carrie’s Story comes the continuing tale of a young woman’s uncompromising sexual adventure. Carrie leaves behind her life with Jonathan, the S/M master who initiated her into a life of slave auctions, training regimes, and human "ponies" preening for dressage competitions. Whisked away to Greece by the demanding gentleman who has chosen her as his own, she learns new, more rigorous methods of sexual pleasure.

Amazon lists these titles as being available in paperback and Kindle format.  I read them both on my Kindle.

- How kinky?
Oh, wow, is it ever!  More kinks than you can poke a supple leather crop at. The order of the day is slavery, and it underpins every interaction the female protagonist has with her world.  She does begin by being afraid, or perhaps a better word would be wary - but she soon grows into it, and we see just how perfectly suited to the role she is.  She lives it, she breathes it, she adores it.  Never does she question its sanity or safety - she just knows this is what her life will be, now.  Magnificent.

- How sexy?
Undeniably.  The writing is, like a good whip, finely crafted and beautifully balanced.  The author is intelligent and well-read, and it shows in the dialogue, but the sex scenes are no less sizzling hot for the intellectual banter and narrative.  Every "bad" word is used here, to brilliant effect, highlighting the smut just as it needs to be seen - white-hot, and just a little bit sleazy. Perfect.

- How accessible?
I would say, probably not very. This is not an "entry-level" text.  It is hardcore, and deals with consensual slavery and pony-training.  I am not trying to put you off, but perhaps better to try something a little gentler first - or start with this, and dive-bomb into the deep end!

- How inspiring?
This book has been my good friend for some years now.  It has inspired *many* a fantasy and scene. Very, very inspiring indeed.

- How engaging?
Oh, incredibly.  The universe the protagonists inhabit, fictional though it may be, is so well fleshed out, so three-dimensional, that I honestly wish I never had to leave.  The characters have history, the scenes have substance, the colours and costumes and sights and sounds are so finely drawn that you can close your eyes and see yourself there (as you will wish you were!).  My main complaint is that together, the books are too short!  I just want to live here ... well, let's just say, any book that can make stubborn, mule-headed me want to try being a luscious pony-trained sex slave like Carrie, must be doing something right!

- How well executed?
Brilliant.  As I have mentioned, the author is amazing at her craft.  The literary references might be beyond some (as they were beyond me), but you don't need to understand them to enjoy the books.  All you need to know is that Carrie is a woman with an intellect, versatile and sharp, and very, very visible, and she submits willingly and courageously to her goal.  She voluntarily gives all she has to slavery itself, and we applaud her for it, through her witty and observant asides that bring out the poignancy of her situation.  Ms Weatherfield (un nom de plume, naturellement) is a master of literary sculpture.

- Negatives?
Only a very minor point: the universe Ms Weatherfield has created contains characters only ever seen in fiction.  An outrageous bugbear, I know - "A fiction novel containing fictional characters? Preposterous!"  But fictional characters is a very different concept to stereotyped character-types.  Two such character-types come to mind here: the Hardcore Kinkster who Dresses as To The Manor Born, and the Mindreading Dom/me.  I do realise that this book is intended to be filed directly under "Neo-Victoriana", but the bit players who wear such My Fair Lady-esque dresses and hats, the upperclass, stiff-upper-lip ladies-who-lunch, really didn't make me feel that the ladies in question were all that kinkily inclined.  Where is the fetish gear? Where are the everyday corsets?  Where are the tattoos and facial piercings?  Even the offspring of the obscenely rich, when kinkily-minded, tend to dress as neo-punk-cum-rebellious-teenager, even into their thirties. Heck, even when they're not kinky, they dress like that.  It's the 21st century.

And so to the Amazing Mindreading Dom/mes.  A character straight out of every kinkster's dreams, who has never and will never exist, sadly.  A simple flick of the eyes in the direction of one's shoes, and suddenly SuperStrict Domme is commenting, "You're right about these shoes. They are too expensive, even for me," as she grinds her leather toe into slave's cunt.  Really? She knew instinctively what Innocent Waywardly Slave was thinking? She should be on TV!  Or more likely, she was just guessing.  In fiction, a Domme can be just so immensely Dommely that she knows precisely what's going on with all slaves at all times, catching even so much as a flick of the eyelids or momentary crinkle of a dimple, and will punish accordingly later. In reality - sadly it's more likely that eyelid flicks and dimple crinkles are lost by the Dom/me, too busy just being human to notice the most infinitesimal details, and when coming up with statements such as, "You're right in what you were thinking just now," is as likely as not to be utterly wrong - but since the slave cannot correct their Master, Master may forever be convinced they really do know what their slave is thinking. Food for thought.

(Incidentally, this brings up another thought - in fiction, the eyelid flicks and dimple crinkles may just as likely be due to a lapse in training, or simple curiosity. In reality, it can sometimes just be an effort to get the Dom to notice that slave is being naughty, in order to get punished. Bratting, in other words, in the small ways that slaves can brat. Do real-life slaveowners really notice these things? Do real-life slaves ever get five for looking at Master's face? Please let me know; it just feels all too superhuman for any real-life Dom/me to accomplish with any consistency.)

- Overall reaction
I. Love. These. Books.  Love them.  Adore them.  One thing I loved about this story is the aspect of absolute consent.  Carrie wants to be a slave, needs to be, must be. She is not drawn here by coercion, by trickery, by a suave and charming man who strips off his charisma the minute they are alone - too often the gateway to an exciting non-consent element in fiction.  Don't get me wrong, I love non-consent in fiction, but Carrie's incredible story doesn't need it to be brilliant.

Why should I not give them five cocks?   Can I really mark books down just for being too brief?  Can I mark them down because MindReading Dom/me makes an appearance once in a while?  Hard to say. I choose not to.

Belle de Jour: Diary of an Unlikely Call Girl, by Anonymous

Note: Yes, this is the same book as The Intimate Adventures of a London Call Girl, by Belle de Jour.  No, I have no idea why they changed it.

Description from Amazon.com:

Belle couldn't find a job after University. Her impressive degree was not paying her rent or buying her food. But after a fantastic threesome with a very rich couple who gave her a ton of money, Belle realized that she could earn more than anyone she knew--by becoming a call girl. The rest is history. Belle became a 20-something London working girl--and had the audacity to write about it--anonymously. The shockingly candid and explicit diary she put on the Internet became a London sensation. She shares her entire journey inside the world of high-priced escorts, including fascinating and explicit insights about her job and her clients, her various boyfriends, and a taboo lifestyle that has to be read to be believed. The witty observations, shocking revelations, and hilarious scenarios deliver like the very best fiction and make for a titillating reading experience unlike any other.

Amazon lists this title as being available in hardback, paperback and Kindle format.  I read it on my Kindle (although I also own the original in paperback ... somewhere).

- How kinky?
Sometimes, incidentally.  She writes very frankly about sex, very matter-of-fact about specific acts.  Many are vanilla, but there are kinks in here, such as watersports, consensual violence, and however you define trying to see how many fingers you can fit up your own ass while getting fucked.

- How sexy?
Very.  Belle writes very engagingly, occasionally poetically.  The storyline is easy to follow and most of the characters, despite being unnamed, are three-dimensional in most of the ways that matter.  Little tidbits of people's lives, their foibles and personalities are titillating, and leave you wanting more.

- How informative/inspiring?
For me, very.  Many of the passages have inspired fantasies in the past, and particular acts/scenes have been known to be highlighted by me for future reference.

- How engaging?
I think so.  It is a work of non-fiction, but like so many biographies and diaries, reads as fascinatingly and fluidly as a well-written novel.  This is about the fourth or fifth time I have read it, so that tells you something.

- How well executed?
Oh yes.  As indicated in the title, it is entirely in diary format, although with interesting asides, lists and notes sprinkled throughout to break the format up.  Belle is an excellent writer, and during those exciting years when her real identity was still a mystery, it was speculated she was actually a professional author, and/or one who read literature and liberal arts at uni.  (This has since been proven spectacularly false.)

- Overall reaction
I love it.  It is easy to read, easy to understand, easy to get through.  A lovely little piece of brain candy, as I call it, for the mentally unchallenged.  The author's intellect and erudition shine through the text, reading as a sympathetic and intelligent friend, confidante, and sexual idol.  I love it, always have.

Five cocks!!

Buy this book if:

  • You'd like some light, but explicit, journal-style reading - perhaps for a plane journey, a lazy Sunday, or just some guilt-free brain candy.
  • You enjoy the writing of an eloquent, educated, very sex-positive writer, who doesn't shy away from uncomfortable and sometimes bizarre topics.
  • You appreciate and are interested in the lifestyle of a real-life prostitute in 1990's London, and not the glamourous, fluffed-up version you see in Hollywood films, and equally not the down-and-out, heroin-addicted version so often portrayed by the very same people.
  • If you liked Subtext: A Modern Day Tale of Female Submission, by Kate Marley, you will love this!

Discipline: Adding Rules & Discipline To Your BDSM Relationship, by Lily Lloyd

NOTE:  Unfortunately the title itself seems to be unavailable through Amazon.  There are reviews all over the net, but where can one purchase this book?  I'm not sure.  I would like to offer any readers who ask, a copy of this book on PDF.  I will not take payment for this.  If the publishers would like to contact me regarding this, please do so, as I have tried to contact them regarding purchase information without success.   Please use the comment section below.

Description from Amazon.com:

Have you been trying BDSM in the bedroom, but you're curious about spreading the connection and passion you've found there to the rest of your life?

Does the word "strict" turn you on? Intrigued by a discipline dynamic?

Or did you start out with a lot of rules and good intentions only to find that it didn't work out?

There are lots of books about how to tie a knot or swing a flogger -- but Discipline is about building a kinky relationship that works.

Discipline: Adding Rules & Discipline To Your BDSM Relationship will show you how to build rules together that are hot, sexy, and enhance your relationship.

Amazon no longer appears to list this title.  The author's blog, http://theblackleatherbelt.com, also appears to be missing.  Does anyone have any info on this mystery?

Description can be found at Goodreads.com.

- How kinky?
Well, it's about power exchange within BDSM relationships.  So there's an assumed amount of kink there.  The book itself is mostly about rules and discipline (surprise, surprise), so I suppose it depends on what you define as kinky.

- How sexy?
This one isn't, because it's more or less a self-help book. That in no way diminishes its brilliance.

- How informative?
Very.  This is where we really get going.  This book is AMAZING.  I have been in the lifestyle for over ten years and I learned a lot from this book.  Not that I'm the most knowledgable player on the block - I might be somewhere in the middle? - but this book has so much to teach those of us who have a tendency to think, Maybe I know this stuff already.  Nope!  And even if you do, it never hurts to refresh the basic lessons - humility, dignity, self-improvement.

- How engaging?
Very.  I read parts of it while at work, and hated to have to put it down again!  The quality of the info and the standard of the writing really make you want to know what topics are going to be covered next, and what the author has to say about them.  Even her phrasing made me think of things in a new light - I highlighted quite a few passages in this book for later review.

- How well executed?

Brilliant.  As I mentioned, the quality of this book is really high.  The author is clearly very intelligent, and knows her stuff - even if just through her own experiences.  The University of Life is more important than any degree, and this author shows us that experience, and mistakes, are some of the best teachers for this lifestyle.

- Overall reaction
Fantastic.  I have added it to the Key Kit, as I believe it is a seminal text in its niche.  If you have any interest in discipline as a lifestyle, from any perspective, read this.  It's wonderful.

Female Submission: The Journals of Madelaine, by Claudia Varrin

Description from Amazon.com:

Female Submission: The Journals of Madelaine is the true story of Claudia Varrin's time spent in London as a sexual female submissive to a well-known British master. Unlike Erotic Surrender, the first book of this two-book set, which was written to empower the female submissive and make her feel pride in her sexual preferences, this book relates her actual day-to-day experiences while living with the master. Using the journals that Madelaine wrote in every day so as not to forget her experiences and emotions she felt as a sexual submissive, Female Submission provides a through the glass darkly look at real-time female submission, written for women by a woman.

The journals from which this book is written are very detailed and vivid, and many of Madelaine's experiences were extremely wild, edgy, and on the most advanced level of play. Private fantasy enactments, exciting public scenes in nightclubs, and frolics both fun and fearful at exclusive dungeon parties spice up the every day activities Madelaine was assigned to do as the master's slave. As Madelaine explored her submissive nature more deeply, she was able to access the most hidden desires in her own mind and enter into the downward spiral necessary to bare her soul and debase herself for her master without degrading herself or losing her self-esteem.   As the book progresses, the scenes get wilder and emotions become deeper, making Madelaine into a submissive who would do anything for her cruel, handsome master and strive to make his base, and sometimes savage, desires her own.

Amazon lists this title as being available in hardcover and Kindle format.  I read it on my Kindle.

- How kinky?
Extremely.  This is actually the kinkiest book I have read so far (and that's saying something). It is also one of the few books where I have read the synopsis (above), and then found the book to actually live up to its claims.  Usually the type of boast, "many of (the) experiences were extremely wild, edgy, and on the most advanced level of play" make me want to roll my eyes, because often a book that makes these kinds of claims goes about as far as watersports or, occasionally, needle play.  But let me assure you, dear reader ... this is Kinky. As. Fuck.  Hurrah!

- How sexy?
Very.  I found myself constantly turned on.The scenes are described in a way that makes them really relatable, and are constructed and strung together in ways that don't break your concentration too much as the author segues from scene to scene - important, I have found, to one's ongoing "enjoyment" of the narrative.  Too much hopping from one scene to the next just brings a reader up and down too many times to focus on stimulation.

- How informative/inspiring?
Again, it is non-fiction, but in a narrative manner, so "inspiring" rather than "informative".  And inspiring it is!  There was a lot of material in here that isn't often spoken of, in case less understanding folks misinterpret the true meaning.  Anal kicking, pussy punching, anal stretching and punching, and that scene with the rope, are just some of activities that spring to mind - eye-opening passages describing these and other activities really re-awakened my lust for new experiences!

- How engaging?
Well ... not as much as I'd hoped.  The very continuity of action that makes this such a rich mine of sexy imagination fodder, also makes it difficult to read too much in one sitting.  It's like a tub of very deep, dark, creamy, fudgy chocolate ice-cream ... you savour every bite, but eating it all in one go would ruin the decadent experience.  It's the law of diminishing returns, really.  I personally enjoyed it in smaller morsels, and all the more for it.

- How well executed?

Very well written.  Like many submissive memoirs I've read, I still do doubt it's authenticity.  Not it's authorship, which appears to be genuine, but the alleged day-to-day truth in description.  It is of course possible to have had these experiences, of course, but so rarely do we find so much heady ecstasy with one partner that it makes me wary of anyone who claims that such experiences happened to them in the space of just a few weeks, let alone months or years.  In addition, she makes reference to several apparently "well-known" events and personalities, none of whom I can find reference to in the bottomless annals of the interweb (to my disappointment). Nevertheless, well written, well constructed as a whole, and completely believable - true or otherwise.

- Overall reaction
EDIT - I do warn that there is heavy and constant drug use. If that bothers you, do not read it.
I loved it.  It was a really enjoyable read from start to finish.  The characters aren't always likeable, just as in real life, and the situations aren't always comfortable, which reflects reality also.  There's no editing of the narrative just to fit into a fantastical magical kink-realm here, which certainly adds weight to the true-story idea.  There's too much "doing" and not enough "thinking" for my personal tastes - the same kind of writing style that turns me off Tolkien, too.  But that is entirely, 100% subjective, and many many readers will adore this book.  Set to become a re-read and re-re-read classic on my bookshelf.  I had a hard time not giving this five cocks ... so five it is!

As She's Told, by Anneke Jacob

Description from Amazon.com:

Winner of the National Leather Association's 2008  Pauline Reage Novel Award.

Take two caring, thoughtful individuals with some highly unusual sexuality, let their paths cross, and watch how far their obsession takes them. That's the essence of this story about an intense bdsm relationship: extreme, loving, creative, steeped in imagination, embedded in the real world. What emerges is a passionate, private sexual reality, in which the balance of power tips only one way.
Maia and Anders want nothing less than total power exchange, without games, negotiations or safewords. Any pretence is out of the question; for both of them the power relationship has to be as genuine as it is absolute, but Anders is more than aware of the risks to inexperienced Maia if she should be wrong about what she can handle. Early on, he steers a careful line between games and gobbling her up. His ownership is established step by step through conditioning, painful consequences, humiliation and constant bondage, and before long, Maia finds walking away has become inconceivable. Anders keeps his slave increasingly 'like an animal on a very short tether' something to which she struggles to adjust, in a continuous state of terror and joy His love of technology takes some interesting turns, particularly around orgasm control, teasing and denial.
The intensification of Maia's enslavement is balanced by the pair's affection, sense of humour and intelligent conversation, and by the real world of work and friends. Some of these friends become integrated into the menage one way and another, and help Anders create the setting in which Maia's uttermost submission can flower. Graphic BDSM content.

Amazon lists this title as being available in paperback and Kindle format.  I read it on my Kindle.

- How kinky?

Oh, boy, is it ever!  This is a one-stop-shop for all your kinky and BDSM needs.  You've got your basic ownership - and I mean real, no-playing ownership of human property - all the way to your physical violence, and pretty much everything that genre entails.  There's sensory deprivation, animalisation, psychological torture,
philosophy of kink; it's brilliant.

- How sexy?

There are some amazingly intense sex scenes here.  But it's not just the sex we kinksters are after, is it?  Some of the non-sex scenes are amazingly sexy as well.  It's always a subjective minefield, this "sexiness" rating, and of course for every new reader there is another viewpoint.  For me ... I had trouble getting past the psychology of the piece.  For those readers for whom that presents no obstacle - I wish you wet dreams!

- How inspiring?

Very.  This is one thing that Jacob does better than almost anyone else, is the thorough detail she goes into with her scene descriptions.  WARNING:  There are just so, so many things in this novel that should not be attempted by real-life human people.  It is inspiring to fantasy, to a very strong degree, and can give you some wonderful detail to work with if you wish to pick up on a certain point and expand on that with your lover/s.  But by no means should these scenes be taken in their entirety and inflicted upon anyone.  It's fiction for a reason.

- How engaging?

Reasonably.  I am a bit obsessed with reading in general, so of course I found myself picking this one up several times a day and enjoying more.  But one of the strong advantages of Jacob's work is also a minor disadvantage:  It's very long.  By halfway through I was a little bit desensitised to the kinkporn, and wanted something to happen besides punishment.  There's not a whole lot in the way of master plot, or character arches here.
It's a bit flat, in that sense.

- How well executed?

Very.  Jacob has a command of language that surpasses many more established and, well, famous writers. These characters are so well rounded and three dimensional, I feel like they are about to walk through my door.  The surroundings are described in detail, and every little bit of hardware, equipment, clothing and paraphernalia is brought to such vivid life, that I find myself astounded - and feeling so very, very lucky and smug - that Jacob could be a kinkporn writer.  She's all ours, people!  We don't have to share her with mainstream fiction.  It is an incredibly rich picture she paints for her readers, and at no point will you find yourself wishing for more detail.  This is literary art.

- Negatives?
Okay. Well.  Another very subjective topic.  In fact, despite that fact that I am such a fan of Jacob's work, I find myself adding this extra "Negatives" section just to critique this book accurately.
This is an incredibly beautiful book, but also extraordinarily difficult to read.  I found it as psychologically disturbing as a Stephen King novel.  The themes of torture, animalisation, shame and guilt are so strong in this story I found it almost sickening.  There is so much shame and guilt here, and so little trust or respect between the main characters, that I felt like I was reading Catholic doctrine (boom-tish).
Seriously, though, I felt that while fictionalising a relationship where the D-type had absolutely no respect or trust for the s-type - and even fetishised his lack of trust for her - is fine in theory, the idea that anyone reading this book could get an inkling that this would be cool or even mildly okay in real life is alarming.  I do, of course, realise that we cannot censor our fiction just because some nutjobs think it's real, but it is also true that this lifestyle, this scene does tend to attract some of the more worrying types of nutjobs.  I would feel horrified to think of anyone thinking this sort of torture played out on the s-type was reasonable IRL.  The overarching theme of the shame and self-hatred that D drums into s every time she gets close to orgasm was disturbing to me.  The programming she received to loathe herself for doing natural human things, or for being in any way human, was actually really difficult to read.  I found myself wanting to rescue this poor girl, who thought that loving someone and thinking they were physically attractive meant that psychological trauma, and torture almost to the point of mental illness, were okay.
Also, on a personal note, I did feel that the 100% absolute control he required over his s-type showed a paradoxical weakness of character, which led me almost to despise him as the story continued ... but that's probably just my opinion.  Who am I to question the National Leather Association :) (sarcasm, sarcasm).

- Overall reaction
I love Jacob's work.  No, I really do.  It's like viewing a Heironymous Bosch painting - you might find the subject matter disturbing in many ways, but there is no question of the talent of the artist, or the skill required to execute such a work.  It is truly wonderful to know that there are kinky writers out there producing such strong, well written stuff for us.  If you like kinkporn, if you appreciate excellent wordsmithing, and if you can distance the part of your brain that might want to go whimper in the corner when a small furry animal gets smacked - then I cannot recommend Jacob's work highly enough.  Another five from me :)

Amazon lists this book as being available in Kindle and paperback format.  I read it on my Kindle.

Another Joseph masterpiece of erotica!  Which is really just porn.  And what amazing, delicious porn it is.  Fantastic.

I have to confess, despite being blown away by "Comfort Object", this title didn't interest me as much as some of the others in her list.  But my fears were unfounded.  This one is just as sexy, hot, dirty and thrilling as the last.  Different elements, different characters, but every bit as good.

Five cocks again.

Comfort Object, by Annabel Joseph

Description from Amazon.com:

Nell, an out-of-work professional submissive, is desperate to find a job when she meets handsome film star Jeremy Gray at the restaurant where she works. He says he needs a personal assistant, but the work contract he shows her details not organizational duties, but sexual ones. Jobless and homeless, Nell agrees to work for him anyway, on the promise that he will pay for her to finish her college degree when her stint as his “assistant” is complete.

The start of their formal Dom/sub relationship is rocky, but they soon fall into a mutually satisfying, highly sexual routine. They play vanilla boyfriend and girlfriend in public, while Jeremy uses Nell as his kinky comfort object behind the scenes. Then a stalker threatens their secret lifestyle, and their contract may not be strong enough to hold them together.

Amazon lists this book as being available in Kindle and paperback format.  I read it on my Kindle.

Wow.  Just, wow.  Annabel Joseph is my new favourite author of all time (sorry, Jodi Picoult).  The story itself is fairly incidental, but that's to be expected.  The sex scenes are hooooooot!!!  And the dynamic between D and s was just gorgeous.  I even wanted to pass this one to my boyfriend just so we could discuss it (but he takes forever to read even short books, and he's not taking my Kindle for that long :P)

I won't even tell you what about this book was amazing - I personally liked everything about it.  Before I had even finished it, I was on Amazon wishlisting everything else Joseph had written.

Erotic Slavehood: A Miss Abernathy Omnibus, by Christina Abernathy

Description from Amazon.com:

Combines Miss Abernathy’s Concise Slave Training Manual and Training With Miss Abernathy in one deluxe volume for the first time. In 1996, Christina Abernathy condensed her considerable wisdom and experience on the topic of consensual erotic owner/slave relationships into her first slim, elegant little manual; Miss Abernathy’s Concise Slave Training Manual. In 1998, in response to consumer demand, she laid out a detailed program for training the erotic slave in various aspects of service, obedience and proper values, Training With Miss Abernathy. These two books have become essential guidebooks to practitioners of consensual dominance and submission. Replete with updated resources and references, Erotic Slavehood will take its place among the basic BDSM reference manuals.

Amazon lists this book as available in Kindle, Hardcover and Paperback formats.  I own it in paperback.  I bought it from Maxx Black sex shop.

This is a fantastic book.  I can't stress that enough.  The first half, Miss Abernathy’s Concise Slave Training Manual, has a lot of information my Dom has used to get inside the mind of a slave or submissive (it is obviously directed towards the M/s dynamic but can be useful to D/s practitioners also).  It has a casual, almost conversational tone, and is easy to read and take in.  Miss Abernathy knows her stuff!

EDIT: I have just re-read the first half, as my Dom is also doing, and must enthuse once again over just how useful this manual is.  Novice Doms would benefit immensely from this book, I imagine, as it has a lot of info in there on "how to be a Dom" that I have not read anywhere else (including on forums supposedly aimed at this very readership).  Very highly recommended, if not mandatory, reading for all novice Doms.

The second half, Training With Miss Abernathy, is even more exciting (for me as a sub, at least).  It is a training manual with lessons, homework and research recommendations.  A slave/sub can follow the lesson plan (with the help of their Master/Dom) and come out the other end much improved, and with a lot to think about.  Future punishments could even include re-reading lessons and reading or re-reading every research recommendation made, to drill it into them.

I love a good instructional, and this one exceeded my expectations in a lot of ways.  At the time I originally read it, it did disappoint me slightly, but that was mainly because there is a lot of non-sexual training in there too (sad face for sub-frenzied novices).  This, of course, is extremely useful, and the rigid Master will require all lessons to be completed before the slave frenzies off to the next one.

A must for all subs/slaves, even the unowned, and Masters/Doms who admire a high level of training in their slaves/subs.

Five cocks!  Great stuff!
